Watch a recap of our 2016 #SparrowConference
Sparrow Conference exists to unify & catalyze a movement of diverse, young-adult women to wholeheartedly pursue Jesus Christ & participate in the advancement of the Gospel.
Our ministry pillars are Truth, Freedom, Identity, and Purpose.
In our culture, Truth has become more difficult to discern with many professors, clubs, co-workers, and even churches speaking their own gospel as truth. The Gospel of Jesus Christ can be so often added to and taken away from. Sparrow Conference wants to point women to the Gospel of the Bible in its purest form. It is from this, that millennial women can meet the Savior and gain a gospel scope with which to see the world around them. Sparrow Conference will hold the scriptures as supreme and teach from them exclusively. It is through the Gospel and the Word of God that millennial women will be sharpened and deeply rooted in an understanding of Christ’s sacrifice and His Truth, which alone, brings Freedom. His Truth, like a flood, swallows up and replaces the lies believed by the college woman.
Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name. ~Psalm 86:11
If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free…So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. ~John 8:31, 36
A life changed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ and obedience to His scriptures leads to freedom. Like a bird that was once caged and living a life of limited perspective and space that has now been set free, we too have been set free through Jesus Christ from lives that lead to sin and death and now we have been granted eternal life with the Father. The implications of this Freedom are vast. Sparrow Conference will ask the millennial woman to take a look at the areas of sin that so easily entangle and ask the Lord to set her free from the chains that keep her from pursuing more of Him. We will ask the Spirit of the Lord to grant freedom to women that walk in habitual sin. Women will learn what it looks like to walk practically today in the Freedom that Christ talks about in the scriptures and will look to identify the snares that the enemy wants to use to pull them back into captivity.
For freedom Christ has set us free, stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. ~Galatians 5:1
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. ~Hebrews 12:1
In a world full of labels, 18 to 20 something's, often find it difficult to be identified in Christ alone. The Gospel brings freedom and the scriptures ask for the believer to now put off the “old self” and put on the “new self” by a renewal of our minds. Sparrow Conference will seek to encourage women to find peace, contentment and confidence in being identified in Christ as they are being transformed into His likeness. We long to see women no longer defined by their achievements or failures and plagued with insecurity but find everlasting identity in who Jesus Christ says they are.
And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. ~2 Corinthians 1:21-22
For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, ‘I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people…then I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me. ~2 Corinthians 6:16, 18
Often young women will find a sense of purpose in a variety of things, whether that be a job, a relationship, or various other things. However, Christ has called us to a purpose outside of ourselves. Sparrow Conference will encourage women to realize their greater purpose and calling in Jesus Christ- to seek Him and make His name known. No longer do women have to be tossed about by the waves of fads or what society says her purpose is but now she has a higher calling. Through pursuing Truth, being afforded freedom, and finding her identity in Christ she now can ferociously pursue Christ and be a vessel for His Gospel and Kingdom. She can turn her gaze outward and be used to glorify Him and make His name known. Significance is found in His purposes.
When he came and saw the grace of God, he was glad, and he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord with steadfast purpose. ~Acts 11:23
Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began. ~2 Timothy 1:8-9
